A 5-week course with Miss Burlesque Ireland ’16 to empower you to learn how to Burlesque, create your own choreography and perform! Next course: 17th November – 15th December 2018
*Bookings now open!*
This is a course for anyone who wants to learn how to Burlesque, create their own choreography, perform it and own it! Throughout the course, Arlene will teach you the fundamental techniques and movements that typify Classic Burlesque, including: bumps ‘n’ grinds, shimmies, showgirl poses, walking and dancing in heels, striptease, stocking peels, chair dance, fluid floorwork and (most importantly) performing to an audience. The aim of the course is not only to learn how to make the most gorgeous movement possible for performance; but also on feeling comfortable in your body and what it can do, captivating the audience and bringing them on a journey with you.
Each week there will be homework and reference materials to further your learning and build your own choreography. During the last lesson, you will perform your very own Burlesque performance using your newfound skills! Please note this course requires active participation: you will not be expected to sheepishly copy what your instructor is teaching you, you will be expected to get involved, ask questions, practice between classes and give this your all! <3
For this course you will need: kitten heels or low heeled shoes comfortable enough to dance in, stockings / hold ups, an open mind and an open heart to step out of your comfort zone.
- Week 1: Mesmerising Classic Movement
- Week 2: Striptease Skills
- Week 3: Chair Dance Technique
- Week 4: Alluring Floorwork
- Week 5: Strut Your Stuff Showcase!
As this is a highly personal course designed to give you the most skills, knowledge and experience in Burlesque, the class is small and limited to 8 places only.
Full payment of course fee (€100) is necessary to secure your place.
Please note that this is a 5-week course: in order to enrol and receive the full value of the course you MUST be available for all 5 lessons. If you would prefer to do a ‘trial’ or ‘taster’ one-off, you may book a private lesson with Arlene.
