This March, my little business Irish Pole Dance Academy turned 8 years old. So what better way to celebrate than with our usual Anniversary Showcase!
Everyone who knows me knows that IPDA is my soul’s work; I am fiercely proud of the community of badasses that my studio is home to. I set up this company while I was on the dole and dreamt about one day having my own studio (more about that in an upcoming blog post). IPDA is so much more than just a studio and more than I ever could have dreamed of! Thanks to everybody who has supported my business over the years; here’s to the next 8 years and beyond!
Massive thanks to everyone who performed at the showcase: Kathleen, Sarah, El, Trena, Agata, Ava, Katia, Kate, Clarisse, Órla, Danielle, Solange, Joshua, Tessa, Trixie, Xavi, Victoria and Jonathan. Seriously honoured and humbled to have you all dance with me; such grace, magic and strength ye brought! Thank you my sister Steff Caffrey for holding it all together and playing a blinder on the sound engineering, Shaun Ryan of Crooked Gentlemen and AM Photo Star for working their calm magic and capturing the event so beautifully (which you can see below), thank you to our pole cleaners Jenna and Suzanne, and of course thank you to Kathleen and Trena for helping out with the MC-ing.

Oh look, it me – Arlene Caffrey. In this photo I’m about to go into an epic tick-tock split (I swear I’m not falling).
Katia shows us how to rock the night away!
Here’s me on MC duty!
Kate bringing all the intensity of her Scottish Highland dancing fused with pole dance.
Trena (and her impressive back muscles) combining chair gymnastics with pole dance and 9inch heels.
Órla making her debut with grace and ease to the IPDA stage.
Clarisse appearing to defy gravity with the flattest flatline scorpio you’ve ever seen.
Danielle and her epic boots bringing the show!
Agata Jurago – Queen of American style sexy flexy flow.
Tessa channelling her not-so-innocent badass vibes.
Leanne had the pleasure (which you can tell by her face) of being Ava Hennessy’s human prop in her guest performance.
Sarah ‘Bang Bang’ Blackmilk!
Lykan Animal and I debuted a new chair dance duet (I swear we are not just lying on the floor for the craic).
Trixie Vixen – “the alter ego every good Catholic girl wishes they had”.
Xavi and their emotive piece about living with an eating disorder.
Solange moments before she blew the roof off of IPDA with her epic drop!
Trena Murphy on MC duty, like a pro!
Josh casually lifting his entire body 90 degrees to the pole, no big deal.
Victoria showing us all what it looks like to be comfortable in one’s own skin.
El Fegan, pole queen of Ireland and our guest all the way from Belfast.
Kathleen Doherty closing the show with old school stripper sass and sexy flexy antics.
Splits for days! Hurrah!
